Description
The Exfo FVA-60B is a handheld variable attenuator designed for both lab and field use. While not in current production, it remains a valuable tool for technicians due to its portability and versatility. It offers a dynamic range of up to 70 dB of attenuation, allowing for precise control over weakening optical signals for various testing applications. Technicians can select between three attenuation display modes: absolute (including insertion loss), relative (referenced to a 0.00 dB level), and user-defined for specific test requirements. The FVA-60B features three power source options: a rechargeable Ni-MH battery pack, a backup 9V alkaline battery, and an AC adapter for continuous operation. This ensures adaptability in various testing environments. An additional functionality is the program mode, which enables users to cycle through a sequence of pre-defined attenuation steps for automated testing procedures. The Exfo FVA-60B boasts user-friendly controls and a remote operation capability via a standard RS-232 interface, making it a well-rounded solution for controlling and measuring optical signal power in fiber optic testing.
