Description
The 214B pulse generator is designed with semiconductor technology to generate high power pulses at a repetition rate of up to 10 MHz. It can deliver 100V pulses with risetimes of 15 ns. By using VMOS FETS as current sources for the output amplifier tubes, the pulse width can be adjusted to as low as 25 ns. This makes the 214B suitable for applications with low duty cycles, such as laser diode pulsing or transient simulation. To protect the device under test from potential damage caused by changing duty cycles, the 214B offers a Constant Duty Cycle (CDC) mode. In this mode, the duty cycle and power remain constant even when the frequency is varied. The 214B itself is also protected against excessive duty cycles through an overload protection circuit. The 214B features easy operation with a timing error indication and calibrated dials for fast and accurate adjustments. It can operate into unmatched loads, ensuring a clean pulse shape with a low reactance 50 O source impedance. Pulse distortions, such as preshoot and overshoot, are specified to be within 5% at all amplitudes.
