Description

Blake Co-Ax Co-Ax Indicator is an specialized device used in radio frequency circuits for measuring the resonant frequency of circuits, such as resonant antenna systems. It was invented by the American inventor and engineer Talcott Parsons Blake in 1913. The Co-Ax indicator measures a circuit’s resonant frequency by passing a current through the circuit and measuring the voltage and phase shift across the circuit. This is done using a specialized co-axial probe that is inserted into the circuit to be tested. The co-axial probe allows for accurate measurements because it has a uniform and predictable capacitance and inductance, which reduces measurement errors. Largely replaced by digital frequency instruments, the Blake Co-Ax indicator is still used in some applications where analog readouts are preferred.
